Writers of Color, VONA Conference 2015

VONA/Voices, the only multi-genre workshop for writers of color in the nation, brings writers of color from the margins to a community where their work is centralized and honored. Join us at the University of Miami for two one-week sessions  of writing workshops.

Travel Writing: Faith Adiele (week 2)

Political Content: Elmaz Abinader  (week 1)

LGBTQ Narrative: Achy Obejas (week 2)

Playwriting: Kim Euell (week 1)

Speculative Fiction: Tananarive Due (week 2)

Popular Fiction–Romance, Mystery; Urban Fantasy: Marjorie Liu (week 1)

Residency: Chitra Divakaruni (week 2), David Mura (week 1)

Application Deadline: March 15, 2015

In all workshops,  writers exchange their works, share strategies and have the discussions vital to their craft, practices and lives as writers of color.

In the residencies, the writers work one-on-one with their master faculty member and meet with the residency group.

All writers of color are welcome to apply regardless of experience, age, or status.
